Howard “The Professor” Lederer, the Dartmouth graduate who became one of the biggest stars on the professional poker circuit, has settled a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Department of Justice over his involvement with the Internet company Full Tilt.
The agreement, in which Lederer did not admit to any wrongdoing, calls for him to forfeit more than $2.5 million in cash and assets. These are scheduled to be paid in two parts within the next three years.
A founder and director of Full Tilt, Lederer also agreed to not work for any Internet poker company or to receive any payments from these companies until Internet poker receives federal approval.
Still unresolved is the lawsuit against Chris “Jesus” Ferguson, another Full Tilt founder.
