April: More jobs, less unemployment in Nevada

A big improvement in the number of jobless people there are in both Nevada and Las Vegas was reported by the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation on Friday.
Officials said Nevada’s unemployment rate in April fell to 8 percent, from the March figure of 8.5 percent. For Las Vegas, the unemployment number fell to 7.4 percent, from the March level of 8.8 percent.
Following the announcement, Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval was quoted as saying the state has experienced “broad-base growth across nearly all industries, and we have added jobs for nine straight months. My focus will remain on growing jobs in our state until every Nevadan that wants a job has one.”
It was noted jobs growth was behind the drop in the unemployment rate. Nearly all major industries and nearly every locale saw improvement in the jobs numbers, officials said.
The gaming industry has noted substantial improvements lately, causing the leaders of the industry to suggest major improvements lie ahead as the year goes on.
