Analysts concede it is still too early to evaluate the impact online gambling will have in New Jersey. Everyone agreed the first month was a bit slow and improvement was expected.
Officials have announced January’s online gambling revenues grew 28% over the previous month. That helped the state’s total numbers since Atlantic City’s 11 casinos reported revenue fell 9.2 percent to $186.3 million.
So, the addition of online revenues helped slow the city’s declining trend, although it didn’t stop it completely.
As for the view toward Internet activity, a spokesman for Caesars Entertainment Corp. (CZR), owner of four of A.C.’s casinos, said, “It’s still early days in the development of the New Jersey market. The company is still introducing its products for smartphones and tablet computers.”
