Shoot for the Stars casino night to benefit new alzheimer’s, memory care unit

CHESTERTOWN — The University of Maryland Chester River Health Foundation will host Shoot for the Stars, a casino night fundraiser to benefit UM Shore Nursing & Rehabilitation Center from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Garfield Center for the Arts in Chestertown.
This Las Vegas-themed, adults-only event will virtually transport guests to the city of Las Vegas, where they will enjoy a variety of casino-style games, a 50/50 raffle, hors d’oeuvres, desserts and a cash bar. There also will be dancing to the golden oldies of “Daddy O,” local attorney Dan Saunders.
Upon arrival guests will be greeted with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine and $25,000 in chips to use in the various casino games, which will be open from 7 to 10:15 p.m. Additional chips will be available for purchase. At the close of the evening, chips will be cashed in for chances to win incredible prizes including a one week vacation at the Grand Mayan Resort in Mexico, a 20-bottle basket of wine, Orioles tickets and a long-weekend’s stay in Washington, D.C. Additional chances will also be available for purchase.
“We are very fortunate to have such a high quality nursing and rehab center in our local community,” said Stewart R. Seitz, director of the center. “The quality and dedication of our staff are equal to the best I’ve seen in my career. By supporting our Shoot for the Stars Casino Night, participants and sponsors will help fund a new Alzheimer’s and memory care unit.”
Tickets are available in advance for $125 per person, which includes a $75 donation. Guests are encouraged to dress in cocktail attire. For more information about sponsorship opportunities or to reserve tickets and a chance to Shoot for the Stars, call Joanna Pierce at 410-810-5681.
