With financing assured, the Scarlet Pearl Casino in D’Iberville, Mississippi, was given approval last week by the Mississippi Gaming Commission to begin construction of a $250 million casino.
A previous effort by the developers had failed when the company was unable to come up with the necessary funding.
That was not the case with a proposal by Jacobs Entertainment for a casino in Diamondhead. After receiving a negative report from its staff, the Commission was unanimous in voting down the Jacobs project.
The Commission said it had received a letter from the Department of Marine Resources that fond the Jacobs’ site was beyond the required 800 feet from St. Louis Bay.
