An international fugitive wanted for allegedly threatening to kill Canadian law enforcement officers was arrested at the Motor City Casino today.
It is not known whether he was gambling at the time, only that he was spotted on the casino floor.
Omar Abdul-Razaq 45, of Ontario, Canada, is being held by the U.S. Marshals and is awaiting extradition to Canada.
According to the Marshals, Canadian and American authorities had developed information that Abdul-Razaq was possibly in the Detroit area after coming under investigation in Canada in September.
Details of his alleged threats were not disclosed.
Marshals in Washington, D.C., contacted the Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team, who learned that Abdul-Razaq was staying at the Motor City Casino.
DFAT, along with Motor City Casino security personnel, located Abdul-Razaq on the casino floor and placed him under arrest.
«In the wake of recent tragedies, we take these threats on the lives of law enforcement very seriously,» U.S. Marshal Robert Grubbs said. » We will always stand ready to pursue and apprehend these cowards.»
