Angry Casino residents will meet tomorrow night to discuss plans to sell the town’s historic drill hall.
Local Rotary Club President, Tony Hennessy, said auction signs went up around the 106-year-old building earlier this month.
He said the hall is heritage-listed, and was used as a training facility by the Light Horse Brigade, World War Two soldiers, and army cadets.
Mr Hennessy said the prospect of the building being sold has offended many in the community.
«The ones I know are pretty angry about it,» he said.
«It represents such an intense part of the history of this area in relation to war service from the Boer War effectively, right through to the Vietnam War and since, it’s had a part to play.»
The ABC has contacted the Australian Defence Force about the issue and is waiting for a repsonse.
