Casino revenues fall at Illinois property

The City of Elgin, Illinois, is hurting financially now that the casino revenues from the Grand Victoria Casino have fallen substantially.
A city spokesman says the riverboat fund proceeds through May were $4.2 million, about $835,000 below what had been budgeted. And, riverboat officials have advised town fathers they anticipate the numbers will get worse.
Elgin receives 5 percent of the casinos’ gambling revenue and $1 admission tax per person.
