Officials in England believe gaming machines located in betting shops are causing an increase in problem gambling.
As such, the Gambling Commission plans to consult on whether users of these gaming machines should choose between limiting the maximum amount of time or money they want to spend before starting to play.
The actions being taken are the result of a recent review by the Sports Minister.
“The outcome is largely as expected, but significantly better than what was feared,” said a Credit Suisse analyst. He added that he expected the shares of public gaming companies would enjoy some relief following the announcement.
